High Water: A Film Screening
Sunday, July 13, 2025
07:00PM - Sunday, July 13, 2025 09:00PM
516 Hagan Street • ZEITGEIST • Nashville • TN
Summary
Join us at Zeitgeist Gallery for a screening of High Water, a newly produced, narrative short film set in the year 2040. The film follows a laid-off longshoreman caring for his mother, who is living with dementia, as the world around them is changing rapidly.
Inspired by flooding and sea level rise impacting Charleston, SC and the Gullah Geechee community, High Water explores the emotional toll of climate displacement, gentrification, and the erasure of Black and Gullah Geechee communities.
Before the screening, we invite you to explore To Gather: Together, an exhibit curated by Alisa Jernigan and Evan Roosevelt Brown. After the film, join a conversation with writer and director Tyquan Morton as we reflect on the intersections of flooding, memory, and Black communal life.
RSVP encouraged. Limited seating available.
