Free Family-Friendly Festival

Healing in the Vilage is an uplifting evening of family-friendly fun and healing—a powerful community gathering that brings mental health professionals, educators, policymakers, and leaders under one mission: to build a stronger, more connected Village.  

On behalf of The Excellence Project, I am thrilled to invite you and your family to our second Healing in the Village: Are the Children Well? event, scheduled for June 20, 2025. We are excited to bring this powerful community gathering back, after a brief hiatus.   

In 2019, the City of Austin proclaimed June 20th as "Healing in the Village Day." This event will take place at Huston-Tillotson University and will bring together individuals and organizations from across Austin who share our commitment to the belief that the health of the Village is closely tied to the well-being of its children.

As we unite for Healing in the Village, we will focus on addressing the critical health, educational, and social challenges our children face. We will also explore how to build a Conspiracy of Care—a network of support and protection for our youth, families, and communities. This event will feature workshops, panels, and discussions that empower attendees to take tangible steps toward creating a healthier, more supportive environment for children and youth.

The theme of our event is embodied in the African proverb: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." By coming together as a community, we believe we can create lasting solutions and meaningful change that will benefit our children, families, and the Village as a whole.
