Created with love and purpose by BE NOLA's Chief of Community Programs & Partnerships, Stevona Elem-Rogers and innovative leaders nationwide, the Black Is Brilliant Summit is designed to uplift the backbone of our communities-- Black educators.Taking place on Saturday, August 19th, from 11a.m. -4 p.m. on the vibrant "Black Wall Street" of Bayou Road, this free event is open to the public. Join us in a joyous, loving space where learning and fun intermingle. The 2023 summit will be broadcast via specialized installations at beloved Black-owned spaces across the city. From barbershops to art studios, these high-traffic "viewing venues" will provide an opportunity for the general public to learn, understand, engage, and advocate alongside BE NOLA for the support and development of Quality Black Educators (QBEs) for New Orleans children. Enjoy a rich tapestry of Black-centered programming, taste delights from a variety of food and drink vendors, and move to the rhythmic beats of a lively block party, expertly curated by DJ ANTWIGADEE.Embodying BE NOLA's mantra, "Black education is a lifestyle," this event takes education beyond classroom walls, celebrating the ways our daily lives as Black people mold us and our children. We're offering a unique opportunity to step beyond the classroom's four walls, exploring the ways we, as Black individuals, educate ourselves and our children through our daily experiences.
