Bask Black is hosting a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at ART IS BOND. art gallery. Come learn how to edit Wikipedia and improve the coverage of Black artists in Houston. Beginners welcome!

We will create, update, and improve Wikipedia articles about the lives and works of Houston's Black artists. Please bring your laptop, power cord, and enthusiasm!

All are invited, with no specialized knowledge of the subject or Wikipedia editing experience required. A brief overview of the basics of Wikipedia editing will be given to first-time participants. We will have resources on hand along with a list of suggested artists, cultural creators, and institutions.

This event is taking place in conjunction with Black Art Houston, a celebration of contemporary Black art throughout the city. Join in an immersive experience featuring exhibitions, open studios, and cultural events across Houston. Discover new perspectives, connect with artists, and explore Houston’s rich tapestry of artistic expression. Presented by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, this citywide initiative coincides with the opening of the MFAH exhibition Multiplicity: Blackness in Contemporary American Collage.

This edit-a-thon is also a part of Art+Feminism's 2024 campaign “Solidarity! Solidarity. Solidarity?: We’re (not) all in this together!”
